How we came to be...

In the late 90's, a group of Agassiz seniors formed the Kent-Harrison Senior Social Centre Society.

They volunteered their time and energy to raise funds to erect this building on land donated by the Sciotti family.

We maintain our facility with volunteers.

We are a registered charity and a BC Society : the Kent-Harrison Senior Social Centre Society.

We rely on memberships, grants and private donations to keep us running.

We are dedicated to providing a caring place for us and our peers to get together, have fun and meet others in a safe and understanding environment.

Come visit us and see for yourself that

We truly are the friendliest Seniors' Centre in the Valley!

About us

JOIN OUR GROUP...

We are the lifeblood of Agassiz seniors. Have you ever been lonely? Have you lost a spouse? Have you ever felt that getting older is like getting lost? Well, here is the place for you.

We have many types of activities from playing crib, bridge or canasta to exercise classes and floor curling. Ahh, that floor curling rock has a mind of its own some days, but it is there for you and so is the camaraderie. The time goes by quickly, but we are having fun and we are mingling with like-minded people. It is a place to go, share time with others and feel better about ourselves. The best thing of all is we make friends, and we laugh. They say laughter is good for the soul... well come and join others and let that soul beat again.

We need volunteers too! Doing something to help makes us feel that we are a part of things, that we are useful, that we are not a burden, that we are just getting started.

We are fortunate that we have a place like the Agassiz Friendship House for seniors.

You know, Someone once told me that when we retire, we don't necessarily miss the job, we miss the fellowship. So come on, join and feel alive and useful all over again!

Doug Platt,

Friendship House President.
